Today I spent most of the day in Lexington at a super cool wedding. I knew it was going to be super cool when I met the bride and her family a while back. Now, I never tell my bride’s this but I have been a little concerned about the weather forecast for this wedding. I wasn’t too concerned because I totally believe in embracing whatever mother nature throws at you but a downpour could have been a little bad. We were prepared to shoot in the rain if needed but I was really hoping it just stayed cloudy. Well, it rained all day off and on but the sun started shining on my way to the wedding. I was totally thinking we may not make it through the group photos before without the bottom falling out. We made it through that just fine with gorgeous weather. I was then nervous that it would start raining during the ceremony but it never did. It actually never rained the whole time I was there. I did get to experience my first encounter with Cicadas. I found them a bit scary at first because they were literally all around us hanging on the trees, on the ground, EVERYWHERE! When we were driving up to the wedding you could hear them singing in the car. I don’t like bugs at all but came home and, of course, being the research junkie that I am I had to look them up and found that Wow….they are pretty cool and I got to experience something that just doesn’t happen everyday. So, if you want to read about the little buggers go HERE.
I did Katie’s bridals a while back and loved so many of them. Here are a few of my favorites from the session. Congratulations Katie & Shane!!! Your wedding was absolutely perfect and the Cicadas were even pretty cool! What a story you will have to tell!
